This week we launched a new sermon series called "Like a Good Neighbor." This series is all about the ways that Jesus challenges us to love people and change our communities for the better. This week we talked about how the good church people in the story of the Good Samaritan were the ones who walked right by the suffering man on the side of the road. Through this parable, Jesus is challenging us to see the suffering around us, to take time to listen to the stories of others, to make strangers into friends, and enemies into family.
There are a few ways we are seeking to be good neighbors as a church this month. Next Monday we are delivering soda and snacks to the teachers at Compass to welcome them to the neighborhood and give them a little encouragement as they begin their school year in a brand new building. If you would like to donate cans of soda or snacks, you can bring them to the church this week. You can also sign up to be a part of our delivery team on 10am on Monday by e-mailing Pastor Katie or signing up in the Fellowship Hall.
Another way you can be a good neighbor this month is by helping the hurting by giving blood at our blood drive on Wednesday, August 17th. Less than an hour of your time can save a life!
Let's show our community what good neighbors look like!
