This coming Sunday in worship we will be closing our "Catch the Wave" sermon series by talking about the power of baptism and celebrating that Christ is always making our lives new. In Christianity we often talk about transformation and new life, but it is still so easy to fall back into the same old patterns and habits, even when they are not life giving. The truth is, sometimes we come to church week after week and nothing in our hearts or our lives really changes.
This week we are challenging each other to reclaim our baptisms and Christ's power to transform us anew. We will be asking: What ways do you need to experience change in your own life? What changes would you like to see in our church, our community, our country, and our world?
Change is not always easy, but in Christ it is always possible. As Sam Cooke sang back in the 60's: "It's been a long time, a long time coming, But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will!" With the help of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, I have faith that change can always come.
I invite you to spend time in prayer this week asking God what needs to change within you and around you, and begin to take small steps to live into the new life that Christ has called you to.
