mission trips

The members of Platte City United Methodist Church have a passion for sharing the love of God with ALL throughout the world. Youth and adult groups have taken several mission trips throughout the United States and Mexico. If you'd like to be part of the next mission trip or learn more about planning one of your own, contact Rachael Drenckpohl at reshbooks@yahoo.com.

Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota

June 2016 | Adult Mission Trip

We partnered with Platte Woods UMC to serve Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Pine Ridge is one of the poorest places in the United States, with an 80% unemployment rate and an average family yearly income of only $4,000. At Pine Ridge, three out of every four families are directly affected by alcoholism and only 26% of Pine Ridge youth graduate high school. We spent our time doing hands-on work projects, as well as partnering with an organization to help the youth of the community.

Logan, West Virginia

June 2016 | High School Youth Mission Trip

Each year, the high school youth group plans a mission trip to a part of the United States where they can provide service and impact a community. This year, the youth journeyed to Logan, West Virginia, an area stricken by poverty. The youth worked in the community throughout their week-long trip and collected school supplies from PCUMC to donate to the children of Logan.

Sisseton, South Dakota

June 2016 | Middle School Youth Mission Trip

The middle school youth group, Journey, spent a week in Sisseton, South Dakota, sharing the love of God through acts of service.
